Mingchi is a high-mountain lake, and when shrouded in mist, the scenery becomes dreamlike, akin to an ink painting filled with poetic charm. The design of placing dried red cypress logs in the lake further complements the vast natural cypress forest along the shore, creating a unique landscape reminiscent of ancient remnants.

Learning from Scenic Beauty – Meditating in the Tranquil Stone Garden
The Tranquil Stone Garden area in Mingchi includes several landscaped features that utilize the natural topography. It comprises the Fuchun Courtyard, built to showcase the site’s natural characteristics, the Cixiao Pavilion, which President Chiang erected in honor of his mother, the Shuiqin Cave, Qushui Pavilion, Taolan Pavilion, Liushang Pavilion, a flower garden, and a Japanese-inspired rock garden. The park features waterfalls, ponds, unique rocks, small bridges, and lush forests as far as the eye can see, making it a place with a profound Zen-like atmosphere.

Flowers Blanket the Earth – Fragrance in Mingchi Nursery
Across from the amusement area lies the Mingchi Nursery, where in early June, a vast expanse of over ten thousand hydrangea blooms in various shades of blue, purple, and red create a vibrant and enchanting sea of flowers. The hydrangeas are so abundant and splendid that they seem to overflow like a colorful tapestry, making it an absolute must-see for visitors.

Sun Yat-sen’s Centennial Memorial Forest & Fern Garden
Across from Mingchi Lake, there is an artificial forest densely planted with Cryptomeria trees. In 1964, in commemoration of the centennial birthday of Sun Yat-sen, the Forest Conservation Office specifically named it the ‘ Sun Yat-sen ‘s Centennial Memorial Forest.’ This forest also serves as a nursery for cultivating seedlings in Mingchi. Sun Yat-sen ‘s Centennial Memorial Forest’ is home to at least 50 species of ferns, representing over 18 families and 38 genera. Therefore, as part of the development plan for the Mingchi Forest Recreation Area, it has been renamed the ‘Fern Garden.’

The Mighty Shenmu of Mingchi is a majestic red cypress tree within the park, boasting an impressive age of 1,500 years. It stands at a towering height of 31.6 meters with a girth of 11.62 meters, proudly overlooking Mingchi Resort. It exudes a captivating spiritual presence and brims with vitality.
WOOD FOREST
Journey Through Asia’s Largest Sacred Tree Garden
The Sacred Tree Garden is the largest hinoki cypress sacred tree garden in the country! Nearly a hundred ancient hinoki cypress and Taiwan red cypress trees, all over a thousand years old, stand tall within the park, leaving visitors in awe. Each sacred tree in the park is named after historical sages and wise figures from past generations, cleverly combining tree age with historical personalities and dynasties, creating an unforgettable impression. The ancient hinoki cypress forest area even offers thoughtful amenities like long and short circular trails and rest facilities, providing visitors with the opportunity for a 1-2 hour journey through the ecological wonders of the Sacred Tree Garden.
